Needing advice
Does anybody know anything about replacing a broken CD ROM drive on a laptop?

I'm definitely no computer guy, but you could probably try searching for a new one on newegg.com. Hopefully it's interchangeable. I think it should be.

Thus far, I think the best thing I've done for the problem is go onto cnet.com instead for a replacement. Of course, I still have to risk dismantling my comp to exchange the new drive for the old drive.

btw, would it be too forward of me to ask for your IM screenname?

you could also try calling the company that made it, even if it is a few years (or more) old, they might still have a contact list of where you could get a replacement and/or have it replaced by a computer tech.

just make sure you have.

the make/model number handy when you call.
it should be listed somewhere on the laptop itself.

hope that helps.

Maybe I'll consider doing that. Thanks for the suggestion, megadraggie.
